Eat lots of protein, is bad for health?

Author: Dr St├ęphane Cascua, Marie-Pierre OLIVIERI

Source: From the book "Menus and Recipes of the sports' Editions Amphora

The high protein diet body-Bulder not reputable. Scientists advise to eat 3 times protein than carbohydrates. Yet prehistoric men and some researchers question this balanced diet!

Our current diet gives a large place for cereals and dairy products. These products have become abundant since man became a farmer at the beginning of the Neolithic, there are only 10 000 years. It was only last century that too many sugary foods have entered into our menus. When Napoleon instituted the blockade of British goods on the continent, they had to replace the coming sugarcane British colonies. The beet growing spread in Europe and initiated an abundant production of refined sugar.

But humans appeared 3 to 4 million years ago! Throughout this period he has adapted its genetic heritage to a diet based on hunting and gathering. Prehistoric man ate 2 to 3 times more protein, 2 times less fat and less carbohydrates. These came from very little grain; they were mainly from fruits or vegetables. Their foods were eaten raw and contained virtually no salt!

For some researchers such contributions would be much more suited to our digestive abilities and chemical functioning of our body. Attention this Paleolithic diet, rich in fruits and vegetables, low-fat, salt-free and without refined sugar, has nothing to do with the high-protein diets offered to the 21st century!

In the nutritional context of the third millennium, excessive protein consumption and artificial including powder based chemical disrupts the functioning of our body. As their names suggest, these amino acids acidify our body especially when they are not offset by the effect of fruits and vegetables buffer. All those associated with calcium dehydrated milk proteins promotes calculation of training in the kidneys. This is why our "Menus and Recipes" for athletes practicing strength sports have a moderate increase, punctual and natural protein intake.
